The iOS app collects nothing. No account, no analytics, no microphone, no third-party SDKs, and no server of ours for the camera, your location, or your photos to go to.

If you join the beta waitlist on this site, we store the email you type in a spreadsheet we control so we can send a TestFlight invite. We do not sell it. Write to goelaakash79@gmail.com to have it removed.

Share feedback in the app opens Mail or Safari. We only see a message if you choose to send one.

The site uses Google Analytics to count visits — pages viewed, how you got here, device and browser, and a rough location from IP. Google processes that under their privacy policy. It does not run in the iOS app.

Camera frames are used on your device to measure light and to render the film-camera preview. They stay in memory for metering and preview. When you tap the shutter, a still is captured and a film look is developed on the phone — including RAW sensor data when the device supports it. Nothing is uploaded.

If you allow it, Lightmeter may write a geotag into the photo you just captured — When In Use, a one-shot at the shutter, not a live track — so the map pin in Photos matches where you stood. Location never leaves your iPhone. Deny it and the app still works, just without geotags.

Frames you capture are written to your own Photos library, including a Lightmeter album, and shown again in the gallery and darkroom. Crop, border, and restyle save as a new photo. We never see or receive them.

Deleting a frame in Lightmeter lets you remove it from the Lightmeter gallery only, or delete it from your iPhone Photos library entirely — using Apple's own confirmation, moved to Recently Deleted just like deleting it from the Photos app. We store nothing in the cloud, so once it's gone from Recently Deleted, it's gone.

Film stocks, cameras, lenses, meter settings, favourites, shutter sound, capture quality, and the loaded film for Home Screen and Lock Screen widgets live only on the phone. Widgets read the film name and chip — not your photos or location.

The darkroom keeps ungraded digital negatives in the app's private storage so you can restyle a shot. Those files are kept out of iCloud backup, pruned if the folder grows too large, and are never uploaded. Deleting the app removes them. Prints already in Photos stay there until you delete them.

Lightmeter is suitable for all ages and does not collect information from anyone, including children under 13. The website waitlist is not directed at children. If you believe we have an email from someone under 13, write and we will delete it.
